Reality, Substance, Conviction, Proof – Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.

Faith is not some flimsy feeling or some mindless wishfulness. Faith is not wanting something to be true or wishing something would happen. Faith is reality and substance. It is not mushy or emotional. It is proof and conviction within us that is undergirded by our evidence of Who God is.

Faith follows reason and is a gift by the Father above to those who diligently seek Him. Faith is informed by facts; yet, leads one to a place of stepping out on the evidence and submitting to the Lordship of Christ and expecting the promises of God. As we begin to accept the reality of faith and see the faithfulness of God we are lead to trust Him for what He says. We are convicted of Who He is. He leads us to a place where we have evidence of the solidness of Who He is and calls us to commit ourselves to Him.

One can choose not to believe. A God of love must allow for such. One cannot with fairness; however, say that there is not enough evidence to believe. The Creator has not left us with such an option. The clues are everywhere throughout creation and history. For those who will follow His leading He will bring to a place of substantive faith that is the evidence of what is not seen. What is seen with physical eyes is only temporary but what is seen with eyes of faith is eternal. Give us eyes to see, Father God.
