Woe to you when all people speak well of you, for this is the way their ancestors used to treat the false prophets.
As odd as this sounds there are at least some who should be speaking poorly of us if we are walking faithfully with Christ. Those who stand for Truth will always have at least someone who is standing against them. The pursuers of Truth will always have enemies – those who deny and seek to destroy the Truth. We must be willing to assess who our friends and enemies are and to walk faithfully with Lord Jesus regardless of the results. One who is an undiscerning friend to all may find that he or she is not a friend of Christ. If we stand for nothing, we will fall for everything. For high self-monitors such as myself, this is an ever present temptation and risk.
