Humiliation and Life – Acts 8:33

In His humiliation justice was denied Him.
Who will describe His generation?
For His life is taken from the earth.

Note: Those of us who are submitting our lives to the Lordship of Jesus Christ often remember and reflect upon the physical, painful suffering Jesus endured on our behalf. I’m not so sure we take note of the abject humiliation He also endured on our behalf. This brief blog only alludes to some of the humiliation He received. He was humiliated and shamed throughout His ministry and especially during the last week of His life. My point is this – He has borne our sins and our shame (humiliation). Overflowing gratitude is the only logical response.

It should be no surprise to us that the Ethiopian eunuch would be able to relate with Jesus. The Ethiopian has also been humiliated and is unable to leave any physical descendants upon the earth. The difference between he and Jesus’ lack of physical descendants is that the Ethiopian most likely had no choice in his fate. Jesus chose His path and laid down His life willingly. By His suffering and humiliation He is able to give life to those who have been humiliated and have suffered.

He bore our sin and our shame. May God be praised.
