“Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “None of My words will be delayed any longer. Whatever word I speak will be performed,”’” declares the Lord God.
Trust me when I tell you that I have the gift of procrastination. Waiting and making excuses is one of my strong points. Sometimes I procrastinate so long that the need for whatever I should have done is eliminated and action on my part is no longer required. Thus is the blessing that follows the gift of procrastination. ‘He who waiteth and doeth not shall be blessed with a spirit of laziness and irresponsibility. His concern for those affected is slight. His desire for anything other than personal comfort is nil. He is likened unto a hound dog under the porch in the summer in Texas.’ (Yes, I made that whole phrase up!)
People procrastinate. (Notice the alliteration.) We are accomplished waiters. Some things simply should not be rushed – like any sort of work or personal confrontation. Those are two of my favorite things to procrastinate. I am quite skilled at such.
God, however, does not procrastinate. He acts. Whatever He says, He will do. Now, He often delays taking the action that He knows must be and will be taken, but His delay is motivated by His grace and His patience not by personal complacency or irresponsibility. At some key point, however, His waiting ends. His Word will come to be. What He says, He will do. He is the God of both love and justice as one without the other is unbalanced and empty.
Father God sees from the perspective of eternity. Thus, His Words are always right. His actions are always just. We must learn to trust.
In whatever situation you find yourself today, be it stress, trauma, suffering or blessing, do not begin to doubt the absolute surety of God’s Word. At some point, when the time is providentially right, His Words will be delayed no longer. Whatever He has spoken will be performed. Rest in this truth and act upon it. I don’t know your context but Father God does and what He says is right. ‘Every Word Of God proves true.’ Listen and submit.
He will delay no longer. He will act. Humble yourselves in His sight and He will lift you up.
