He did what was right in the Lord’s sight just as his ancestor David had done.
2 Kings 18:7
The Lord was with him, and wherever he went he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him.
These two verses work together. The second is the supernatural outcome of the first. When a leader submits themselves to God’s law and God’s rule the result is blessing and prosperity for a nation. God blesses the one who will submit to Him. It is the way Father God works. He knows what is best.
When a leader implements the way of God for a people the natural result will be what is best for those people. When a leader rejects the evil practices of his own people and those of leaders and people of other nations then God’s response is to bless him as well as those who are following him. God knows the heart of His leader and responds in kind to the leader’s desires and actions.
There surely is such a thing as a nation blessed by God. It is the nation that is led by a sincere person who is seeking God and submitting themselves to His rule and a populace that is following in kind. This is the type of leader and nation that Father God blesses.
2 Chronicles 31:21
And every work that he undertook in the service of the house of God and in accordance with the law and the commandments, seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.
