And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”
It is simply God’s irony that those who sought to have him murdered and who gladly took full responsibility for His crucifixion articulate in their anger the very truth that saves us today. By the grace of God, Jesus’ blood is upon all of those who believe and through this blood, the forgiveness of sins is bestowed. It is this blood-bought forgiveness that prompts people all over the world to submit their lives to the One who was crucified on their behalf. It is this blood that cleanses us from our sin and puts us in right standing before our Father in Heaven. What the enemies of God meant for evil, our Father has used for our good.
Truly, may His blood be upon us and upon our children – not the blood of condemnation but the blood of forgiveness and grace.
