Seeing vs. Submitting – Luke 23:8

When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad, for he had long desired to see him, because he had heard about him, and he was hoping to see some sign done by him.

Just because someone wants to see Jesus does not necessarily mean they want to listen to Him and submit to His teaching. Many saw Jesus including Herod, however, very few ‘had ears to hear’ and hearts to understand. They had a desire to see Jesus the man but no desire to submit to Jesus as Lord. The same is true today.

May we as disciples never be accused of such!
