“Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
This truth still affects every believer today. Our spirit infused by the Holy Spirit seeks to be faithful at all costs. Our flesh afflicted by the devastating effects of the fall fails us at every turn. The war within us is ongoing and requires diligence and discipline. It is our spirit that has the strength of God and our flesh that is so easily distracted by the weakness of hell. Heaven will be real when this struggle is over and our newly created bodies of resurrected “flesh” perfectly cooperate with our God-filled spirits. There will be no more inner war. The rebellion contained within our earthly flesh will be defeated. Our brokenness will be eternally repaired..
