The desire of the sluggard puts him to death,
For his hands refuse to work;
All day long he is craving,
While the righteous gives and does not hold back.
This world is filled with two types of folks in general – Takers and Givers. The working out of the desires of our heart can either work against the greater good or for the greater good. The lazy soul is the one who is daily reviewing his desires for how he may satisfy his own selfish craving. This is the path to death. The righteous soul is daily aligning his desires with God’s so that he and God together may bless someone else with what he has been given. This is the path to life. The one who refuses to work refuses true fulfillment. He is governed by his own gut. The one who works so that he may give receives fulfillment beyond what can be described. He is governed by God and the benefits are eternal. The Taker is inherently selfish and single minded. The Giver is inherently generous like His Father.
The path of the Taker leads to death. The way of the Giver is life. Jesus is the Giver. He did not hold onto His very own life. He gave it of His own accord. Will we? It is the way of the righteous to give.
