May grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
This is an interesting passage as Peter seeks grace and peace to increase through knowledge. It is knowledge that trumps our emotions. How we feel has such a strong impact on our sense of grace and peace. Our emotions control us in many respects; yet, it is knowledge that liberates us from that grip. The knowledge of God and the Lord Jesus brings both grace and peace since this knowledge enlightens us to the truth of Who God is and what He has done through our Lord Jesus. Knowledge allows us to rise above our emotions regardless of the situation since it puts us in touch with the One who is saving us. Jesus Christ is Grace. He is our Peace. Our knowledge of Him ushers these into our lives and brings stability and strength in spite of any feeling, in the face of any temptation or challenge. It is not our knowledge that saves us. It is the One whom we know. He brings grace and peace. Thanks be to God that we have the privilege of knowing Him and thereby enjoying both grace and peace.
