Speak Up – Matthew 10:32-33

“Therefore, everyone who will acknowledge Me before men, I will also acknowledge him before My Father in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven.

Jesus never sugar coated anything. He was painfully and directly honest in all of the things that mattered most. He professes the amazing blessing associated with confessing Him before men and then directly addresses the converse. There is great blessing in acknowledging Jesus before others. So much so that to call it blessing seems like an understatement. To speak the name of Jesus here brings the promise of our name being spoken in Heaven before God. Such is almost beyond our imagination. We can rest assured that this is of magnitudinal importance just by looking at the profound implications of not acknowledging Jesus.

Jesus will not leave us with some dishonest, pie in the sky approach to life. He is painfully honest for our benefit. He knows His purpose and clearly shares the implications of both accepting and rejecting Him. We must heed the warning and be those who have His name on our lips ever ready to acknowledge Him with our words. His Name must be the fruit of our lips.

Father God, grant us the courage to do this faithfully.
