Then Jeremiah came from Topheth, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy; and he stood in the court of the LORD’S house and said to all the people: “Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, ‘Behold, I am about to bring on this city and all its towns the entire calamity that I have declared against it, because they have stiffened their necks so as not to heed My words.’”
Those who had received the oracles of God were now refusing His Word. They openly rebelled against the One who had delivered them from Egypt and set them up in this amazing land. The consequences of such a mindset are severe. It is a very sobering thought.
Those who have received the Word and Favor of God and then turn and reject it place themselves in a precariously dangerous place. Father God does not mess around or dilly dally with such people. He will bring judgment upon them for their blatant refusal and rebellion. He will not continue to be mocked by those whom He has intentionally redeemed and blessed. For that matter, He will not continue to be mocked by anyone. There comes a day of reckoning. His perfect justice requires it.
Stand in awe.
Humble yourself.
Hear His Word and obey.It is truly in our own best interests to do such.
