Trinity – Jude 1:20-21

But you, dear friends, as you build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, expecting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ for eternal life.

Along with Ephesians 2:18, 2 Corinthians 13:14 and Romans 15:30 here is yet another reference to the veracity of the biblical doctrine of the Holy Trinity. The One True God Whom we serve is Three in Person, One in Essence. He is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. He has existed eternally in relationship with Himself and has created us that we might also know the joy and fulfillment of sharing in this relationship and in the relationships we have with those who also trust in Him. What else can fully explain our deep desire for relationship? God has created us in His image and we long for fulfillment in friendships. The one who has no friends is to be either pitied or feared. And, at its best, certainly the greatest relationship we know on earth, marriage, is a three in one relationship: a man in relationship with a woman both of whom are in relationship with God.

God.

Man.

Woman.

The two shall become one flesh. Only an eternal God can work such a miracle.

It certainly raises our view of marriage, wouldn’t you say? It certainly should.

We’ve been given the ongoing opportunity to participate in the life of God Himself by knowing others. This life is built upon our relationships. May you know the glory and grace of God in the ones who surround you.
