“But you,” He asked them, “who do you say that I am?”
The tense in this passage is plural. Jesus is addressing His disciples with the question that every person must answer. Who is Jesus Christ? Ultimately, all of us are left face to face with Jesus to answer this. Is He God? Is He the Messiah? Is He the One who can redeem us? Will we submit to His Lordship and give ourselves to Him in faith?
Jesus leaves us with two valid options. Either He is God as He claimed and can recreate us by grace through faith or He is a deluded madman. There is no middle ground.
Look to Him and be saved.
You are the Christ the Son of the living God and I submit myself to you again this day and every day, Lord Jesus.
