Circumstantial Assumptions – Job 18:21

“Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked,
And this is the place of him who does not know God.”

Job 1:8
Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? No one else on earth is like him, a man of perfect integrity, who fears God and turns away from evil.”

With friends like this who needs enemies? Such misguided ‘comfort’. Bildad infers that Job is wicked and that all of this suffering is his own stupid fault. Bildad is simply wrong. Totally wrong. None of this is Job’s fault. It has all been instigated by satan as allowed by God. God clearly stated from the very beginning of the book that Job was a righteous man in every respect.

It is dangerous and wrong to make spiritual assumptions based solely on the circumstances of others’ lives. Be quiet and listen. Reserve judgement. Don’t condemn. It’s not your role or business.

We are called to compassion not condemnation.
