If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
The true servant of Christ receives the honor of Father God. It is quite a thought to consider. In and of ourselves we just don’t tend to be honorable people. It doesn’t come natural. We place honor on our leaders but definitely do not think about honor being ascribed to servants. Even our leaders often have trouble leading in an honorable way. Honor is evasive. Yet, to serve and follow Christ is to receive honor from God. The servant of Jesus is honored by God. Jesus minces no words.
All of the good things we receive from Father God flow through our position in Jesus Christ. The critical elements are not earned, they are given. As we submit ourselves to the lordship of Christ, the honor He receives from His Father is shared with us. Think about how we feel whenever we are simply honored by someone on this earth we deeply respect. It lifts us and motivates us. Now, consider the impact of knowing that Father God honors us. Just knowing this brings great encouragement and strength. It gives us resolve and focus and also casts a new light on what others think of us. Why should we care what others on our level think about us? We are honored by God.
The servant of Christ is honored by the Creator of the Universe. The Omnipotent One honors us. What? It is mind boggling. The One who IS the definition of honor has chosen to honor those who are servants of His glorious Son. Some truths carry implications that are simply too much for me to fathom. What else can one say in response except – thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.
We are receiving the honor of God through serving Lord Jesus. Go and be honorable today.
