The men were amazed, and said, “What kind of a man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey Him?”
This is the question all men must ask, “What kind of man is this?” Who is this Man who can speak the sea calm? Who is this man who can exorcise demonic powers? Who is this Man that can heal a child at a distance? Who is this Man who claims authority to know who will be saved and who won’t be saved? Who is this Man who speaks to the chosen with disdain and extends the Kingdom to the outcasts? Who is this Man who can send a fever fleeing with the touch of His hand? Who is this Man who claimed to be God and then authenticated His authority with His life? “What kind of man is this?”
The uniquely amazing existence of the real person Jesus Christ who walked this earth over 2,000 years ago cannot be denied or ignored. Many have tried both. Neither approach is satisfactory. He claimed that He alone was the way, the truth and the life and that no one would come to the Father except by Him. You may say that He was wrong but you cannot say that this is an invalid truth claim. It is not. This is His claim. History is replete with His words and His works which substantiate this claim. He is God and as such, He will not force Himself upon anyone. He calls us to choose Him in a demonstration of our love.
The question is ours, “What kind of man is this?” This Man was and is and always will be God. The Second person in the Trinity, God the Son. Jesus Christ our Lord.
