“But you must say to this people, ‘This is what the Lord says: Look, I am presenting to you the way of life and the way of death. Whoever stays in this city will die by the sword, famine, and plague, but whoever goes out and surrenders to the Chaldeans who are besieging you will live and will retain his life like the spoils of war.”
I will give them a heart to know Me, that I am Yahweh. They will be My people, and I will be their God because they will return to Me with all their heart.
This promise of being drawn to Father God and known by Him is the fruit of obedience. These are the ones who did as He instructed and were led into exile. These are the ones who went against the flow of what their own phony prophets were telling them. They rejected the lies of these seers and depended upon the truth of God, trusting Him even when His words were hard.
Just as we find pleasure in our children when they obey what is right, Father God also finds the same in His obedient children. It is a law of truth that obedience brings blessing and favor even if we do not see its good effects in short order. What God grants the obedient is the gift of a heart that knows him. This one gift informs every other decision and truly leads to eternal blessing.
