Now therefore, listen to me, my children;
Pay attention to the words of my mouth:
Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways,
Do not stray into her paths;
For she has cast down many wounded,
And all who were slain by her were strong men.
Her house is the way to hell,
Descending to the chambers of death.
The temptation of extra marital sexuality is great for many men and takes many forms. It intensifies as one ages and spreads it’s arms wider; however, Father God makes it perfectly clear that it leads to only one place for those who succumb and participate: straight to Hell. There are no side roads by which to escape. There is no exit when once the heart has given in to this evil. It’s ramifications are deadly. It’s ultimate destination is death. We were taught as children that the road to Hell was paved with good intentions. Here we learn from Scripture that the road to Hell is actually paved with bad intentions and the house of an adulteress; i. e. sexual immorality, is that path. Good intentions truly are worthless on such a road. This path must be avoided at all costs. Fleeing sexual temptation is the only real defense.
Father God, protect our hearts from this evil allurement. Keep us away from this house of evil. May our eyes be ever on and our desire be ever for the beautiful, pure one you have given us – the wife of our youth.
