Don’t be led astray by various kinds of strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be established by grace and not by foods, since those involved in them have not benefited.
There will always be those who assume they can gain status with God through special ceremonial practices involving food and other earthbound things, i.e. feasts, banquets, observances, rituals, rites, etc. In effect, these individuals work to establish themselves with God though their own actions. This mentality and practice infects every faith system regardless of the ‘god’ it seeks to appease. And, obviously, it is evident in the faith system of the true God of Creation and Life.
Here in the simplicity of a straightforward reminder the Holy Scripture clearly points out that our standing with Father God is solely by grace. There is no benefit to special foods or practices in our standing before God. It is only grace that can establish us in His presence. It is grace that strengthens us not food or special observances.
There is so much we cannot fully know in our present circumstances and so many things that are beyond us with which the enemy seeks to confuse us. Thus, the beauty of knowing that our salvation is firmly established by the grace of God and not by any work of our own is profound. Even in this letter to the Hebrews where God clearly emphasizes the necessity of a lived out faith, still He reminds us that we are established by His prerogative in His grace and not by any other religious or non-religious means.
Only by grace can we enter
Only by grace can we stand
Not by our human endeavor
But by the blood of the Lamb
