An indecisive man is unstable in all his ways.
This brings to mind Jesus’ statement about the man who puts his hand to the plow and looks back. Jesus says that this backward glancing man is not fit for the kingdom of God. This man simply can’t seem to make up his mind and set his face toward Jesus. Instability defines him.
Sometimes I wonder if this man is me. Age and maturity don’t necessarily go hand in hand, I have found. Decisiveness doesn’t necessarily accrue with age either. It is a critical issue; however, for ‘the man who endures to the end will be saved’. Our faith depends upon our decisiveness, as much as any of it depends upon us. The one who stands in faithfulness is the only one who stands. Stability in life comes through decisive faithfulness. It is clearly exemplified in the faithfulness of God, Who remains faithful even when we are faithless.
Grant us Your faithfulness and your resolve Lord God that we may follow and serve You always.
