Then Jesus answered him, “What do you want Me to do for you?”
“Rabbouni,” the blind man told Him, “I want to see!”
This is exactly the same question He asked of those who were seeking self promotion in the Kingdom earlier on the road. Jesus opens us up to what we truly desire. He probes into our heart with direct questions that reveal our motives and the deepest longings of our hearts. He knows our desires for He sees our hearts. He gives us the opportunity to articulate exactly what it is we desire so that He can respond appropriately. He opens us to our very own selves and then speaks to our deepest desires. He calls us to confess with our mouths that He might heal us with His Word.
What do we want? The heart is empty and restless until it is filled with Him.
