People who are at ease mock those in trouble.
They give a push to people who are stumbling.
O how careful the person who has endured no trouble or persecution must be when looking upon those whom God has blessed with trials and suffering. Material blessings and smooth sailing often deceive their recipients into believing they have earned these as a result of their self-proclaimed “faultless”, godly living. This flawed thinking leads them to conclude that anyone with trouble in their lives must have brought it upon themselves through disobedience or a weak ‘faith’.
The story of Job and of so many other faithful believers proves that nothing could be further from the truth. God trusts and grows the faithful through suffering and trouble. The afflictions a person bears as allowed by God may very well be a measure of God’s confidence in that one and certainly allows the one in affliction to demonstrate his confidence in God. The most faithful Man who ever walked this earth bore tremendous suffering, trouble and humiliation. It is safe to say that He knew no sin. God’s confidence in His son Jesus was great and His reward was even greater. Be very careful when you find yourself blaming the one who suffers for the afflictions they are bearing and praising yourself for the ease of your own life. Remember, God disciplines those He loves……
