Lamentations 3:21
But this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
In the midst of tragedy, loss and extreme emotional distress it is the prophet’s mind that leads him to hope. He makes a conscious effort to remember the eternal goodness and faithfulness of the Lord. It’s not a feeling but a thought that brings him hope; a thought founded in who God is and the eternal truth of His loving faithfulness. It is the same for us. God gives us the ability to think and remember in order to be comforted and strengthened in our darkness and weakness. Paul said, “I KNOW whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I’ve committed unto Him against that day.” Paul prayed that we would KNOW the overwhelming ‘hugeness’ of the love of Christ.
Knowledge is a key to hope. Hope is a key to Life.
Lamentations 3:22-26
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
The LORD is good to those who wait for him,
to the soul who seeks him.
It is good that one should wait quietly
for the salvation of the LORD.
