In a culture of unmitigated evil that is constantly running after the gods of this world, such as the one over which Ahab and Jezebel ruled, the worshiper of God and those who serve as His leaders have one foundational truth from which they cannot stray: worship God alone. Do not bow down to the false gods of the culture. Do not kiss up to the those who spew lies as truth. These entities are inherently false and those who worship them will be destroyed.
Father God will redeem and ultimately protect those who refuse to bend their knee and pucker their lips to other so-called gods. Our resolve as worshipers of the One true God must be rock solid. There can be no wavering. When we are desperate and despairing we must continue to listen for His voice in times of ‘thin silence’ when He is whispering His powerful Word to us. He will not reject those who continue to trust in Him. There are always more serving Him and following Him than it appears to our earthbound eyes (2 Kings 6.8-20). He preserves those who will not serve the enemy. He destroys those who do.
Take Hope, He is just and true and loving.
