Every Good And Perfect Gift – 1 Chronicles 17:19

Lord, You have done all this greatness, making known all these great promises because of Your servant and according to Your will.

This biblical principle helps to keep the follower of Christ on track when blessings flow. ‘If there’s anything good that happens in life it’s from Jesus’ (Songs From the Loft). David has this principle firmly established in his mind. ‘Lord, You have done all of this greatness…’. It is true and good and keeps the blessed servant of God humble and mindful of the One who brings all blessing. Father God clearly shows David that He, God, will bring blessing to David and to David’s future generations by His, God’s, own prerogative. We are quick to point fingers at God whenever we perceive He has acted inequitably. ‘God is not fair! How could He do this or allow this?’ Yet, are we quick to give Him thanks, glory and honor when He pours out more than ‘we could ask or imagine’? We have a tendency to dwell on what we perceive as the negative while taking personal credit for the positive. God is the Author of every past, present and future blessing on our lives. We would do well to acknowledge this fact giving credit where credit is due. David knew from whence the good in his life flowed and he made it known to His Father and his followers.

James 1:17-18

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
