Jesus knew that the Father had given everything into His hands, that He had come from God, and that He was going back to God.
Jesus knew His purpose, His origin and His destiny. This knowledge informs His life. Knowing where He is from, why He is here, and where He is going, provides the foundation and structure for His words and His life just as it does ours. How did we get here? What is our purpose? Where are we going? All of these are defined for the follower of Christ. We were created by God. We are here to glorify Him. We are going to be with Him into eternity. Only Christianity answers these three critical questions soundly and fully. The resultant motivation these three truths brought to Lord Jesus were exemplified in His life. This motivation will also be exemplified in the life of the follower of Christ. It can be described in one word: Joy.
