Turning Away – Jeremiah 15:1,6

Then the Lord said to me: “Even if Moses and Samuel should stand before Me, My compassions would not reach out to these people. Send them from My presence, and let them go.

15:6
You have left Me.
This is the Lord’s declaration.
You have turned your back,
so I have stretched out My hand against you
and destroyed you.
I am tired of showing compassion.

This is a terrifying place to be – cast from the presence of God with no one, not even one of the great mediators of the faith, able to abate God’s wrath. Father God has committed Himself to purging the iniquity and nothing can stop Him. He cannot bear the ravages of sin on His people and He will address it. He is patient and kind and willing to forgive; however, He will not ignore the injustice of immorality forever. He could not do such and still continue to be a loving, Sovereign God. He burns with righteous anger against the injustice of the immorality that His people pursue. Just as we are aghast at injustice so is Father God. He must be. He is the One who placed this sense of justice within us. Eventually, He will address the immorality and run out of His presence those who insist on such rebellion. This is Hell: the absence of God. It is a frighteningly lonely place of fiery torment where people are left to pursue their own ungodly desires at the cost of their very souls. Forever……
