Are you a king because you excel in cedar?
Didn’t your father eat and drink
and administer justice and righteousness?
Then it went well with him.
He took up the case of the poor and needy,
then it went well.
Is this not what it means to know Me?
This is the Lord’s declaration.
The misguided prideful leader measures himself by what he owns and by what he has built. He finds success in his stuff and his accomplishments. Yet, the leader that Father God commends is the one who values justice, righteousness and who cares for the truly disenfranchised – the poor and needy. He is one who uses his exalted place of judgement to implement those values that Father God has valued and protects those who are suffering at the hands of men who devalue God’s priorities. The leader who emphasizes the material will be humbled. The leader who emphasizes the spiritual will be exalted.
