He batters me with a whirlwind
and multiplies my wounds without cause.
God never operates without a cause for He is the Ultimate Cause. Job’s comment is understandable given what he is enduring; however, God has a purpose for all of it – that He might display to the enemy Job’s undying faithfulness and bring glory to Himself by His servant.
I think Job’s point may be that he has done nothing to deserve this suffering and, in his case, he is right, regardless of what his “so-called” friends have concluded.
