“Does he thank that slave because he did what was commanded? In the same way, when you have done all that you were commanded, you should say, ‘We are good-for-nothing slaves; we’ve only done our duty.’”
This blows away our current focus on self-image, self-confidence, self-respect, self-esteem, self-everything. The only good we have is what Christ Himself has done on our behalf and whatever pittance we can return in His Name, by His power, for His glory. We are worthless slaves and that is totally good news! The worthless slave cares only about how he can please his Master.
He must increase. We must decrease.
Give us such a focus Lord Jesus.
Our true, eternal value is found only in You.
