A man’s own foolishness leads him astray,
yet his heart rages against the Lord.
It is the utterly selfish one who messes up His life and then seeks for a way to blame God. It is the approach of a rebellious soul. It is the picture of a total lack of personal responsibility.
‘Anything bad that happens to me must be someone else’s fault and ultimately the blame belongs to God.’
What arrogant ignorance. How does a finite, dependent, volitional creature blame an infinite, omniscient, omnipotent Being, the Author of all goodness, for anything ‘bad’? How dare he! Who do we think we are that we can hold the Judge of the universe in judgment? What motivates such a mindset? I’m afraid that at the very heart of this rant is the desire to deny responsibility for our own ignorance and rebellion. If we can somehow convince ourselves that it is God’s fault then we are cleared of blame for our own stupid decisions. Self deception is the greatest of all deceptions.
Thankfully, God’s mercies are new every morning. His faithfulness is great. He is willing to forgive. One with wisdom receives this and walks in His Way.
