But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ.
How??? How does one do this? How does a sinful creature look at his own personal gains and then count them as loss for Christ? Don’t gloss over what Paul is saying here. After 30 years of following Christ I am still learning what this means. It is mysterious and perplexing. I understand the concept. I’m just not sure I understand the actual application, the living out, of this concept. Counting every positive gain, especially those gains related to our faith in this context, as loss for the sake of Christ is the call. It is a high calling.
Father God give me the courage and insight that I might make this happen all for Your glory. There is no accomplishment either physical or spiritual that is worth anything in light of Who Christ Jesus is and what He has done and the privilege we have of knowing Him.
