May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.
If there are two qualities that every single follower of Lord Jesus needs at all times, it has to be these two. Love and Steadfastness. Walking in faith requires both unconditional love (agape) for others and ongoing endurance and constancy; i.e., the love of God Himself and the constancy and endurance of Jesus Christ. These are necessary ingredients in the life of one who is walking in the Way of Lord Jesus.
Interestingly, Paul knew this and also knew the only means by which these two values could ever have a chance of existing in our lives was through the direction of our hearts by the Lord. These are crucial values and are only possible by God’s own power. We must be praying that the Lord will direct our hearts and the hearts of those with whom we associate to these spiritual qualities and that His Holy Spirit will inspire them in our lives. We seek God to invade our hearts and inform our motives so that we might have these two necessary ingredients for life. We pray for Him to move us along and grant us the faithfulness needed to bring glory to our Father.
He is able. He is willing. Change our motives, Lord. Change our desires. Direct our hearts to your love and steadfastness.
