Acceptable – Psalms 19:14

May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to You,
Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.

Words matter.

In a day when it’s popular to be profane and our language is peppered with deception and filth, this verse reminds us of the power of our words and thoughts. Thoughts arise from our heart. Words communicate these thoughts and reveal our innermost being.

What we say and what we think reveal who we are. The language we use matters. Our thought-life matters. Our words and our thoughts are inextricably bound together.

The measure of what we think and say should be acceptability before Father God. What we are speaking should bring Him joy. What we dwell on and daydream about should bless Him. It seems almost impossible; however, the gift of the Holy Spirit living within us makes this possible.

As Paul prayed, we must be strengthened in the inner man by Father God’s Holy Spirit. Christ must dwell in our hearts by faith. Through this supernatural strength and the indwelling of Christ an acceptable mouth and mind for the believer are possible – for all things are possible with God.
