As obedient children, do not be conformed to the desires of your former ignorance. But as the one who called you is holy, you also are to be holy in all your conduct; for it is written, Be holy, because I am holy.
Don’t let your passions, desires and feelings form you. Shake off the earthly mold and conform yourself to Christ and His way. The pattern of our fleshly desire must be broken and denied. Put it aside. Throw it away. Quit reinforcing its fit by toying with those feelings and longing for sin. Crush it. Ditch those shackles and conform to the grace of Christ that has been applied to you. As we conform to Christ, we are transformed by His life within us. Our conduct must be conformed to His holiness. We have been sacredly set apart for grace. We have received His offer of salvation. We are indwelled with the Holy Spirit. Now we conform ourselves, our very lives, to His holiness. The gift of His grace flows into the outworking of His holiness in our very being. All for the glory of God and the saving of our lives.
