Greater Fear – Psalms 86:11

Teach me Your way, Yahweh,
and I will live by Your truth.
Give me an undivided mind to fear Your name.

The fear of most everything in life comes so natural to me. It is my biggest failing. I always figured it would decrease and my courage would increase as I aged. My assumption was that ungodly fear would be vanquished in my life by my ever increasing faith. It has not been the case. If only there were some way to transform the ungodly, fleshly fear that stalks my life into the Biblical fear of the One who created me. It will take the miracle of God in me to have this undivided mind to fear Father God above and beyond everything else. It will take a laser focus on His grace, protection and provision knowing that He is above all and that He controls all. I should know this better than ever and maybe I do. I need His miracle to internalize it for everyday.

Teach me your way, Lord, that I may live by your truth not cower in my fear. It is your truth that will usher in an undivided, unified mind to fear Your Name. It’s all of You Father. The truth is that I am weak and fearful. It sounds so dumb to have to confess such after so many years of walking with You in Your unrelenting blessing and favor. I can relate with the desires of this Psalmist. I need your ongoing teaching in order to live by Your truth. I need an undivided totally devoted mind that I might fear Your Name and not everything else I encounter. Have mercy on me a sinner.
