Blind Hate – 1 Kings 19:2

So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah, saying, “May the gods punish me and do so severely if I don’t make your life like the life of one of them by this time tomorrow!”

Big, bad Mama Jezebel runs Ahab’s life and his show. She is the picture of an evil, controlling woman. She will do her best to bring destruction to God’s man with no thought for truth or justice. She literally does not even fear the One True God who brought fire from Heaven as a clear show of His power and authority over every one of her so-called gods and priests. I wonder how she would have reacted had she seen it with her own eyes and had not simply heard the tale from her milk-toast husband? I wonder how we would have reacted?

Many who have threatened and implemented ‘justice’ on their own terms will one day encounter true justice and be shamefully shocked. God will not be mocked. In His nature is true justice and it will be served. Thankfully, Father God does not allow the egregious evil one to escape. He or she must either repent and submit or bear the unabated consequences of their evil actions. As do we all.

The intensity of evil may be different in every person. The reality of it is not. All have sinned and stand condemned. The impending judgment looms in our future and haunts our present. Regardless of how we rationalize, justify or ignore our sin, there will be an accounting. Thanks be to God that our Judge has become our Savior. This is truly the Good News. There is no other truth that compares to this promise of forgiveness. None.

‘As far as the east is from the west so far has He separated us from our sin….’
