John 19:15-16
They cried out, “Away with him, away with him, crucify him!” Pilate said to them, “Shall I crucify your King?” The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar.” So he delivered him over to them to be crucified.
What a blatant lie! Threatened, evil men will go to any length to protect their authority and fame. The Jewish chief priests no more considered Caesar their King than the man in the moon. I would even venture to say that they hated Caesar. His reign was antithetical to all they believed and practiced. Yet, they were so filled with hate toward Jesus, they were literally willing to violate their most sacred principles in order to be rid of Him.
He came unto His own but His own did not, would not, receive Him. Tragedy of all tragedies.
Receive Him today. He is Lord Jesus.
