Those who hate the Lord
would pretend submission to Him;
their doom would last forever.
This is a terrifying thought. God has absolutely no room for pretense and pretending. The one who ‘pretends to submit’ hates God. Yikes! Is it then safe to assume that God also hates the pretentious heart? We know from Scripture that there are things God hates. He hates evil. Pretentious submission is rebellion and a lie and a fundamental evil. Our Lord seeks an honest heart. He wants true submission or none at all. The choice is ours.
