At the Cross – Psalms 85:10 – 13

Steadfast love and faithfulness meet;

righteousness and peace kiss each other.

Faithfulness springs up from the ground,

and righteousness looks down from the sky.

Yes, the LORD will give what is good,

and our land will yield its increase.

Righteousness will go before him

and make his footsteps a way.

What a beautiful picture of the purpose of the cross. The place where mercy and truth meet. Where love and justice are merged. God in His wisdom fulfills the requirements of justice through His Son’s sacrificial love and literally gives His perfect self out of merciful love for His children. This is the truth of faithful love. This is the peace that comes through imputed righteousness.

The Faithfulness of Jesus, the Son of Man springs up from the ground as He is born of a virgin and walks this earth with perfect faithfulness, perfectly fulfilling His Father’s will. The Righteousness of God the Father expressed in God the Son came down from Heaven and made a Way. By His Faithfulness and His Righteousness we are saved – caught in the crosshairs of God’s love. Hallelujah!

This is amazing grace.

We are saved by grace alone.
