“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord:
though your sins are like scarlet,
they shall be as white as snow;
though they are red like crimson,
they shall become like wool.
Engage your mind and think logically about what I have done, says the Lord. The word reason in this verse can also be translated ‘dispute’. Argue the case that God has made. Faith involves our minds and also the defense of our Father and what He has done. Think. Reason. Dispute. Engage in discussion. We have the mind of Christ.
To walk by faith is absolutely not the call to reject our minds and quit thinking. No way! It is just the opposite. Receiving Christ in faith requires reasoning and thoughtful contemplation regarding the Truth of who God is and what He has done in Christ. He has purged us of our sin. Always be prepared to give a REASON for the hope that is within you with gentleness and respect. 1 Peter 3:15.
Good stuff Wendell!
I love how Peterson puts it in the Message:
“Come. Sit down. Let’s argue this out.”
This is God’s Message:
“If your sins are blood-red,
they’ll be snow-white.
If they’re red like crimson,
they’ll be like wool.
If you’ll willingly obey,
you’ll feast like kings.
Abba is not afraid of our doubts, concerns or issues. This passage encourages me to bring them all to him, openly and honestly. Thanks for sharing!
