“Then the man who had received one talent also approached and said, ‘Master, I know you. You’re a difficult man, reaping where you haven’t sown and gathering where you haven’t scattered seed.'”
The irony is that this servant really didn’t know his master. It seems that maybe he made this decision based actually upon what he knew about himself. It is probably his own heart that is difficult, deceitful and stingy. We must be careful not to make assumptions about Father God based on generalizations flowing out of what we actually think about ourselves. God is gracious, loving, forgiving and just. He blesses those who faithfully serve Him with the gifts He has given. He is neither difficult nor deceitful. He cannot be such for each are antithetical to Who He Is and what He does.
Our pursuit must be to truly know Him for He will hold us accountable for the gifts He has given us. We must seek to know what He really expects of us in relation to all that He has given us. Our investment must be an investment in His kingdom and that does take a variety of forms. There is a painful consequence for those who judge Father God harshly and thus fail to use the gifts He has given. There is a great reward for those who humble themselves and serve Him with everything they have been given. We must humbly seek His will in all we do. The days are short.
